See, I was having so much damned fun with the Cintiq this weekend I forgot to draw the comic.

Then Noggin stole me on Monday.

So. Yeah. Leftovers, I guess. And the comic was gonna be so funny. IT HAD A DOOR!

Oh well. You'll have to wait until next week ;)

In other news, making the new icons for the next round of DSG is turning out to be more time-consuming than expected. Unfortunately I don't think we'll be able to start the next game until after the upcoming weekend.

In the mean time, enjoy the calm ;)

I can't tell you how many times I see people standing in front of their own damn claymores in Call of Duty IV. On team damage-enabled servers I have a strong urge to knife them. Bleh.

At least they're not on the ceiling, however. At least, not most of them.

Occasionally, however, you'll find on a Search & Destroy map that the last person on your team is alive simply because he was too stupid to die. Usually a sniper, this shining example of human intelligence will often be hiding in a closet, or under a car with a claymore.

Some of them fancy themselves worms, slowly inching their way across large fields while prone.

Idiots. All of them.

If you play CoD4 and would like to play competitively, feel free to add us to your XFire ;) We don't have a match server yet, but as soon as we get more people under the [SH] tag we plan to start one. SmokeHerb FTW ;)

I think I like the evil insane of Dax over the crazy insane of Portal's computer. That's just me, however.

It was kind of Dax to use pillows instead of spikes in his blueprint, although he probably did that just to secure corporate funding. His final version would have the spikes, I'm sure.

Spikes aren't even that bad. Not really.

Could have been a tub of acid. Or snakes. Or spiders.

Yeah. Spiders.

Recently some douche screamed at us for "breaking the fourth wall"--a metaphor for writing a meta comic. Meta comics are generally considered bad because, well, they aren't funny.

But that's OK. We're never funny.

I'm not sure what his motivation was. I can only assume someone somewhere told him that you could never, ever, EVER break the fourth wall. We did, and it apparently ruined the comic for him. Retarded.

Look, if you don't enjoy reading a comic then don't read it. You don't need some stupid excuse to stop reading. It certainly doesn't need to "ruin" a comic for you.

You could suggest it's not a good idea to break the forth wall, and you'd probably be right. Then again, it's probably not a good idea to dress Dax in purple short shorts. We do it anyways. Cuz we want to.

Oh noes. I used "cuz". And put the period outside of the quotes.

Fuck.

Nobody likes losing at a video game. Especially not to a creature without opposable thumbs.

You gotta appreciate your thumbs. Without them, how would the space bar get pressed? HOW?

The DeadGod redesign is nearly upon us. I hope you like it =) The S.H.Y.S. Project page will get a face lift shortly after.

You also have the DeadGod Survival Game to look forward to. More details on that later ;)

With apologies to South Park. Hey, at least it wasn't Chili ;)

It's tempting to do more short-run series like these, so long as they all stay self-contained. It's also tempting to do more large one-panel comics--I mean, assuming they were funny. Or at least amusing?

Interesting? =/

We recently added the shys.us domain to our google analytics account. The good news is visitors tend to read a bunch of comics each visit. The bad news is the unique visitor count is woefully low.

If any of you have ideas on how to better promote this comic I'd love to hear them ;) Once the DeadGod redesign is complete (hrm, I think that was supposed to be a secret) I'm going to work harder on topsite submissions / etc. If anyone wants to lend a hand with that, we'd be most grateful.

Thousands of credits for any help, ne? Speaking of which, the original credit game I promised is delayed until next week. Stupid time and things eating it.

See, this is why I don't go to clubs, bars, or any other kind of social outing. I'm not saying all such places are frequented by murdering psychopaths.

Just most of them.

Of course, by "murdering psychopaths" I mean "idiots who follow the Britney Spears saga"--one simply makes for better comic material. And really, morally there isn't much difference between the two when compared to flesh-eating Martian bacteria hell-bent on transforming the Earth into a planet-sized spaceship to carry their payload of explosives deep into the heart of the sun so that our galaxy might become the kindling of an intergalactic explosion large enough to achieve near-Planck temperatures so that a rift may be opened for drow bunnies to invade us from another universe.

No difference at all, really.

I know we said we didn't like story plots. What the hell is that "Part I" doing up there then? Well. It's a theme, let's say. The next two comics will finish this theme and form a coherent idea. Each individual strip, however, will be self-contained.

I have nothing witty to say this week, unfortunately. I'll say this, instead: Please visit our OnlineComics.net page and vote for us! Do it, or I kill the cute puppy ;)

http://www.onlinecomics.net/pages/de...?comicID=13396

We have something special coming up in the next few weeks for everyone to enjoy. No hints further than that yet. ;)

DranoK: i mean, going down comic lists
DranoK: out of 10 comics
DranoK: 7 of them are furry manga wannabes, 2 are college people in manga working as waiters in restaurants, and the other one tries to be funny but usually fails

I'm fairly fascinated by the Christian vision of Hell. Not so much the idea of it--many religions have the concept of punishment after death (it's a great scam, after all)--but rather the implementation. The whole fire and brimstone bit.

Barren landscapes devoid of life; destroyed by fire. Is fire a universal nightmare? Even though it may be the primordial technology? Prometheus' gift?

If so, it certainly befits the Christian Hell.

LiQUiD wouldn't play WoW with me this weekend--I blame a certain EVE interloper for this--so I was cursed with an inordinate amount of time on my hands. On the bright side it did give me time to draw this, so it ain't all bad ;)

There's a larger, bubble-free full-sized version available here.

The comic is titled "Happy Xmas" instead of "Merry Xmas" to provide me a flimsy excuse to rant about the archaic use of the word merry. When it became tradition, merry was normally used to mean agreeable or pleasant--not so much jolly or under the affects of alcohol. The phrase was, "God rest you merry, gentlemen," not "God rest you, merry gentlemen."

On a similar pedantic note, abbreviating the holiday as Xmas is a custom that long predates modern English--at least back to the mid-1500s. X is the Greek letter chi, the initial in the word Χριστός (Christos) "Christ."

In any case, I hope everyone had a great holiday and consumed many pigs' worth of ham.

I understand scripting takes a lot of processing power, but WoW seems filled with entirely too many lazy boss strategies that are all the same. And yet people still stand in the god damned puddles.

Maybe I'm just jaded. Maybe I'm just having entirely too much fun in PvP, where when I lose it's because the team was better than me--not because someone fucked up.

That's what losing in PvE means--someone fucked up. They either made a mistake, or people were undergeared, or whatever. Some encounters just take time to learn--enough repetition to get people to stop fucking up.

WTB Dynamic PvE encounters. Nothing exceptional. Nothing like even the AI in single-player games. Just more complicated scripts that react to your group.

Healing Druids are overpowered in 2v2 arenas. Seriously, they are. That said, most people whining have little to no sense of perspective and believe the game itself somehow persecutes them. It's annoying.

While I don't suggest becoming a rabid fanboi it's equally as unwise to become a rabid complainer, blaming Blizzard for all your problems. Or, far more commonly, believing that you somehow have a better grasp of balance than those actually working on the game do. And maybe you do. Who knows. That doesn't mean you should charge the forums and post your rant about how Blizzard must change something or you'll quit! Oh noes!

It applies to more than just WoW. Humility is all but abandoned--at least where I live. Little thought is given to points of view we disagree with. We rarely extend the benefit of doubt to others. We fail to phrase our ideas diplomatically.

Take everything with a spoonful of salt, whether it comes from 4chan, wikipedia, CNN or your own brain. Skepticism shouldn't be abandoned just because the thought is yours.

Yeah, I know I posted this image a couple weeks ago. But it still makes a good comic ;) And we've been sick all week.

The next installment of the Singularity saga is postponed for a bit. We have the server built, but had to RMA the memory and the motherboard. Yeah, we got unlucky. Memory is just fried (at least one DIMM is) while two sata ports on the motherboard don't work. *sigh*

Hopefully we can get the next part up by the end of the week, but no promises.

Now go drink your Kool-Aid ;)

Is the whole "Dax is evil" thing getting old? It's just so easy to think of them ;)

Daxoku, of course, is a combination of 'Dax' and 'Moku'. I think Moku is happy enough to go along with Dax's endeavors, even if they aren't up to the epic evils he's been accustomed to in the past. In any case, Dax may well pull Moku out of his laziness and inspire the kitsune.

Dax was supposed to be covered in blood but I forget to color it that way. I think it works out anyway.

WoW patch 2.3 came out today, which means season 3 starts next week. I was hoping I'd have more time to prepare, but such is life, I suppose.

Part II of Singularity which covers our network upgrade will be released tomorrow. With luck the rest of our hardware will come before the weekend so we can get started on the build =)

Moku would be a lot more evil if he wasn't so lazy. It's hard to be original after a thousand years, anyway.

Dax, on the other hand... I think his career in evil is just starting, and chances are he'll put Moku to shame.

Happy Halloween =)
