Whenever asked the (rather off the wall) question about "If you could have a long talkative dinner with anyone, alive or dead, who would it be?" I tend to default to Mark Twain. Though crotchety, he is someone I'd LOVE to pick the brain of.
Now, this may or may not be a completely true answer, because other contenders include Thom Yorke, Luciano Lenchantin and JK Rowling, and they're fierce competition.
(I had to mark Elizabeth Bathory off that list because apart from the whole "So, blood huh?" thing, I don't think we'd have much to discuss.)

I'm not sure I could have a conversation with Mark Twain. I'd love to just sit there and listen to him ramble for several hours, though ;)
