For about a year now I've chosen to wear glasses while reading or using a computer. I say chose not forced because I can overcome my slight farsightedness by squinting and achieve nearly perfect vision. Given that I spend the vast majority of my day reading various text, however, this becomes very tiring very quickly.
So I wear glasses. My eye doctor prescribed them after I went in last year complaining of frequent bloodshot eyes. She attributed the redness to strain from squinting all day and the fact that one of my eyes is significantly stronger than the other. Whether or not I wanted to wear the glasses was up to me--they're a very, very minor prescription.
I chose to wear them. I'm tired less often now and have bloodshot eyes far less frequently. Overall I'm happy.
The only downside? I have to wear fucking glasses.
It's amazing to me how quickly these things get dirty. Any dust or small cloth debris within a mile of my face are inexplicably drawn to my lenses. The choice between squinting and viewing life through dust-covered windows is bloody annoying.
And no, those god damned clothes they give you with new glasses don't help. Unless you wear gloves whenever you touch them they quickly become soaked with skin grease. Instead of cleaning your glasses you'll just smudge them up more.
There is a solution, however. A magnificent solution. A beautiful solution that doesn't involve putting pieces of plastic directly against your iris or making sushi out of your eye.
3M Lens Cleaning cloths!

These things kick total ass. They don't pick up skin moisture (and even if they did, they're
washable) and suck dust off your lenses with a brief swipe. It's the type of technology that makes my eyes water up just thinking about it. It's the kind of thing I get excited about.
Mmmm. Cleaning Cloths.
